And the thing that makes it even more ridiculous is that it’s not like by erasing Umeda’s sexuality they removed all the potential queerness in Hana Kimi. One of the main characters spends most of the series in a gay panic because he’s falling in love with a person he thinks is a boy, and they left all of that in because ~we know she’s actually a girl and therefore it’s not actually gay and that makes it okay~
Yep, leave in all of the psuedo-homosexual stuff because that is HILARIOUS and gets good ratings, but take out any actual gay characters. God.
