McCoy: Do you know why you’re not afraid to die, Spock? You’re more afraid of living. Each day you stay alive is just one more day you might slip and let your human half peek out. That’s it, isn’t it? Insecurity. Why, you wouldn’t know what to do with a genuine, warm, decent feeling.
Spock: Really, Doctor?
McCoy: [pause] I know. I’m worried about Jim, too.

(Star Trek TOS, 2x25 “Bread and Circuses”)

Bones & Spock’s relationship summed up in one scene.

My endless feelings for this scene. This episode has such great character moments for both of them. There’s also the bit a little earlier when they’re needling each other and someone asks Jim “Are they enemies?” and Jim kind of smiles and says “I’m not sure they’re sure.” It’s like it’s through spending so much time getting under each other’s fucking skin that they learn to understand each other. It’s one of the most interesting fascinating interesting relationships I’ve ever seen.

On a shallower note, their voices and arms in this bit, holy fuck.
